  • We live in a world that actively Mourns the loss of the world around us, a paradoxical time to exist, to grieve things that haven't left and yet are anticipated to do so. Believing that masking in apathy and indifference is a sustainable existence. This world struggles to feel and grieve. It is this reason that artists are vital.

    As for myself, an Ethiopian Orthodox Christian and raised Catholic, I do believe that imitation is the greatest form of flattery; artists are always in the invitation of God in the attempt of creating and finding order out of Chaos. If this universe is to be experiencing itself, then artists are, in my humble opinion, beloved.

  • My ultimate superpower is multidisciplinary fluency backed by relentless momentum. Because I understand the granular details of cinematography, spatial design, craft, and editing, I can effectively lead a complex production set, guiding talent and crew with absolute clarity to deliver undeniable cultural impact.

  • My medium of choice is not a single material, but storytelling itself. Professionally, my most disciplined medium is behind the lens, directing cinematography, videography, and portrait photography. But the rhythm of my daily life is sustained by performance. Reciting everything from Shakespearean monologues and Russian poetry to the powerful works of August Wilson, Maya Angelou, and Rainer Maria Rilke serves as my constant creative fuel. In my leisure time, I prefer the quiet, grounding practice of tapestry weaving. Looking forward, the medium igniting my curiosity the most is glass. I am expanding my technical horizons into Venetian glassmaking—studying at the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Hilltop Artists, and the Pilchuck Glass School to master this volatile, breathtaking craft

Sister Corita Kent (1918–1986) was an American Catholic nun, educator, and pop artist renowned for her vibrant silkscreens advocating for peace and social justice. As head of the Immaculate Heart College art department, she compiled the famous "10 Rules for Students and Teachers." Often misattributed entirely to John Cage, these rules champion creative freedom, emphasizing: "Consider everything an experiment," "Nothing is a mistake," and "The only rule is work."

Rule 1: Find a place you trust, and then try trusting it for a while.

Rule 2: General duties of a student: pull everything out of your teacher; pull everything out of your fellow students.

Rule 3: General duties of a teacher: pull everything out of your students.

Rule 4: Consider everything an experiment.

Rule 5: Be self-disciplined. This means finding someone wise or smart and choosing to follow them. To be disciplined is to follow in a good way. To be self-disciplined is to follow in a better way.

Rule 6: Nothing is a mistake. There's no win and no fail, there's only make.

Rule 7: The only rule is work. If you work it will lead to something. It's the people who do all of the work all of the time who eventually catch on to things.

Rule 8: Don't try to create and analyze at the same time. They're different processes.

Rule 9: Be happy whenever you can manage it. Enjoy yourself. It's lighter than you think.

Rule 10: "We're breaking all the rules. Even our own rules. And how do we do that? By leaving plenty of room for X quantities."

Helpful Hints: Always be around. Come or go to everything. Always go to classes. Read anything you can get your hands on. Look at movies carefully, often. Save everything. It might come in handy later.
